HOW WE SERVE YOU
This section provides general information on how guests are being served? There is specific information for managers, front office staffs and back-office staffs to ensure that the customers and guests enjoy the best tailoring experience at A Dong Silk in Hoian. This procedure comes with the following steps:
Guests welcome
- The guests will be greeted with warm smile, and given a comfortable seat and a bottle of cold water.
- The guests will be introduced by:

- Fabric Consultant: Guests can walk around and view a vast selection of high quality fabrics (1st and 2nd floor). The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable and the guests will be received great help and advice choosing fabrics and colors without any pressure to choose the most expensive
- Design Consultant: The database is brimming with new and modern designs. Guests may choose any new design from the computer. If customers wish to personalize their custom tailored clothes, all changes requested will be carried out exactly.
- Measurement: The staff pays detailed attention to body measurements. Photos taken during measuring will be for the sole purpose of the assessing the customer’s body shape, and to store the measurements of the customer. These will be sent to the guests before leaving.

- Fitting: Customers are fitted at least thrice to get a perfect fit. Customers are encouraged to comment on their “comfort and feeling” during the fitting. Alterations will be made each time until the garment is completed and matched with the customer satisfaction
- Customer receives the finished tailoring garment and a final payment is made: At this stage, the customer is requested to provide feedback on their tailoring experience. Be leaving, a customer is presented a gift for their experience at A Dong Silk in Hoi an.

Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry Thanh Giong Cup Award
The Thanh Giong Cup was awarded to the Top 100 outstanding entrepreneurs at a ceremony held in Hanoi on October 9 2010 by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).
The event honored entrepreneurs who recorded good business performance thereby creating employment for the community and benefiting society.
The 100 Thanh Giong Cup winners are outstanding entrepreneurs who have taken full advantage of opportunities and giving focus to environmental protection, enterprise labor relations and business management.
Enterprising firms were evaluated based on revenues, technology innovation, and effective labor policies, and the creativity and dynamism of entrepreneurs in their management and having environmental protection projects.
The 2012 Business Initiative Directions (BID) Century International Quality ERA Award
The award ceremony took place on 11 March 2012 in InterContinental Convention Hall of Geneva in Switzerland. The purpose of the 2012 Century International Quality ERA Award in Geneva is to recognize the enterprises with a total commitment to quality in business operations, industrial production and services.
The companies that received the award are symbols of commitment to leadership, technology and innovation, making them models of excellence for other firms in their sectors.
The CQE Century International Quality ERA Award acknowledged the strong commitment to quality and excellence. 3rd National Environmental Award on December 2010 by Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment
The annual National Environmental Achievement Award recognizes individuals and member agencies that have made outstanding contributions to environmental protection. The organizations and individuals were evaluated based on outstanding achievements or results in environmental protection activities:
- Successful resolution of specific environment problems or promoting significant progress in environmental protection, including issues related to sustainable development.
- Success in raising public awareness to environmental issues or engaging community participation in environmental protection

A DONG SILK STORY
A Dong Silk is easily recognized among a string of custom-tailors in Old Hoian Town. The high quality workmanship and its 15-year history have placed it at the top of tourism websites, such as Trip Advisor and Lonely Planet. A Dong Silk is chosen by international tourists who demand fine clothing fitted with perfect customer service.
Having an ancestry of fine clothing since 1997, A Dong Silk marked its first step as a business start-up with determination to fulfill the demand for professional tailoring of Hoian tourists and international business personas.
A Dong Silk started with 10 employees who worked as part of the family. The observance of traditions, friendliness and hospitality are hallmarks of Hoian culture that are found in A Dong. The cultural heritage of 400 years provides a unique experience to the tourists.
After operating as tailoring outlet for eight years the Mr Tran Thai Do and Mrs Bui Thi Minh Nguyet were committed to expand A Dong Silk as a professional business. In 2005, they decided to set up A Dong Silk Commerce & Services Limited Company and was located at 62 Tran Hung Dao Street, Hoi An Town.
Despite many initial challenges, such as staffing, trade unions, design and policy and processes, A Dong Silk has overcome the hardships. It now has 130 dedicated and qualified employees working for the success of A Dong Silk as the favorite brand for discerning tourists in Hoian.
Key milestones
1998
A Dong Silk began operations with the vision of becoming a professional tailoring destination serving international tourists visiting Hoi An.
1999 – 2004
During its early years, A Dong Silk built a strong reputation based on exquisite craftsmanship and dedicated customer service. The business operated like a family, offering warmth and friendliness to every customer.
2005
A Dong Silk officially registered as a company and relocated its operations to 62 Tran Hung Dao Street, Hoi An. The company expanded to 70 employees, continuously improving service quality.
2006
Apart from promoting brand name, A Dong Silk ensures a stable livelihood for all employees. Fun and games such as musical performances, celebrations, and gifts for Children’s Day, Mid-Autumn Festival, and birthday parties are held by the Board of Management and Trade Union of A Dong Silk for the staff. The staff welfare program provides joy and reduces daily work pressures.
2007
As a socially responsible community member, A Dong Silk has participated in community activities and programs such as Global Environment Day on 9 September, cycling parades, and fabric bag distribution in remote areas such as Cham Island, schools, and markets, organized by the Hoi An Town Council. The contribution of A Dong Silk has been recognized and endorsed by the Hoi An People’s Committee.
2008
In bringing Oriental culture to the world, A Dong Silk focuses on bespoke tailoring to convey traditional values in each service to create a unique proposition for its customers. With the motto, “customer comes first,” A Dong Silk has developed an attractive sales campaign and has continuously enhanced service quality to meet the highest demands.
2009
The name of A Dong Silk is strongly affirmed by top tourism websites such as TripAdvisor and Lonely Planet. A Dong Silk emphasizes service and quality improvement, especially through word-of-mouth advertising.
At A Dong Silk, each product represents the spirit of love and labor of craftsmen. Therefore, every step in the whole process of tailoring is meticulously executed to ensure that every product contains the message of spiritual values. A Dong Silk staff strictly follows professionalism and hospitality to leave an everlasting impression.
2010
Combining traditional handicraft and industrial production, A Dong Silk invested in machinery to produce the perfect products that meet high-quality standards. The Customer Service Agents are equipped with laptops to advise customers in a timely, effective, and professional manner.
Salary and bonus policies are applied fairly based on skills, competency, and experience to facilitate an enthusiastic and motivated work culture.
Given the strong progress of A Dong Silk, in Spring 2012, Mr. & Mrs. Tran Thai Do received the Century International Quality ERA award in Switzerland. The award recognized the efforts of the Board of Management and staff. A published article featured the image of a Vietnamese enterprise that compared well with other international enterprises. This has brought great pride to every employee, their family members, and partners of A Dong Silk.
2011
To serve international customers, A Dong Silk developed an online shopping website and set up an Online Sales Team (affectionately called O2). The website helps potential customers who are unable to travel to Vietnam select and place orders. Now, A Dong Silk is increasingly talked about and mentioned on social forums.
2012
Many Vietnamese enterprises have succumbed to a sluggish economy, but A Dong Silk has maintained revenue stability and provided jobs for employees.
The Vietnamese economy and tourism sector have become more challenging. Many tailoring outlets managed to find new customers only by paying high commissions to brokers. However, A Dong Silk is strongly supported by loyal customers who appreciate the company’s value-for-money clothing and professional service.
2013
This year marked breakthroughs in improvements in material quality and equipment efficiency. A Dong Silk continued to streamline operational processes from guest reception, cutting, and tailoring to customer care. Old equipment is replaced by advanced equipment to achieve material cost-effectiveness and ensure high efficiency. More than that, A Dong Silk has broadened its range and display of products, creating a friendly shopping experience for customers.
The duration of fifteen years is not too long. However, given the current achievements, A Dong Silk is confident that it will continue its success.
2014 – 2019
